The soil is rich and
deep on this farm, allowing us to grow so much fruit and vegetables, flowers
and trees that it makes it a real paradise. Feasting on organically grown food
while gazing across colorful flowerbeds and shrubs is our idea of heaven! We've
practiced composting since 1978, adding kitchen scraps, leaves and grass
clippings from the growing trees, leaving natural organisms to do their work,
encouraging snakes to make the slugs vanish and birds to eat insect pests and
bald-faced hornets to devour webworms and codling moth larvaall of which
results in an abundance beyond your wildest dreams. The veggie garden is behind
the graceful white PVC/vinyl picket fence, but we also plant veggies in the
landscape, around the houses, and in the flower gardens. Flowers also are
welcome in the veggie garden. It is one big happy landscape of beauty and
Heirloom tomatoes as
big as melons!
cottontails help with the gardening, eating weeds and grass. We have movies of
them eating weeds and we've not had them ever damage our veggies. Paradise?
